Murphy ? Etha Grace Harper Harrison, 83, of 5332 US 64 West and formerly of Aspen Court, Asheville died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at her home.
A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she had resided in Murphy since July of 2007.
Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of the late Robert Andrew and Florence Fredrica Gass Harper and the wife of Charles William Harrison who died April 10, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Allen ?Bobby? Harrison who died January 2, 1971 and her half brother, Louis Harper who died in 1998.
She retired in 1986 from R. Stanford Webb Insurance Agency following many years of service, was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where she served in many capacities, did volunteer work with West Buncombe Fire Department Auxiliary, Mission Hospitals and a number of other organizations.
Surviving are her daughter, Charlene Harrison Hughes of Murphy; son, Howard Leighton Harrison and wife Dillie of San Antonio, TX; daughter in law, Judy Harrison Warren of Asheville; brother, Robert A. Harper, Jr. and wife, Betty of Rockdale, TX; grandchildren, Shannon White, Marla Hincke, Melanie Thompson, Charlie Hughes, Will Harrison, Lesley Warren and Jason Harrison; 17 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Sunday at Mt Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery with Ronnie White, Bobby White, Richard Hincke, Charlie Hughes, Craig Thompson, R. Andrew Harper, III M.D., John Harper and Rusty Brown serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm Sunday at the church.
