Edith Elsie Blankenship Kautz Brimer, age 103, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in Hiawassee, Georgia. She was born September 30, 1912 in Big Creek, West Virginia, the only child of the late Freeman Reeves Blankenship and the late Laura Darby Blankenship. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, William Carl Kautz (1974); ex-husband, J. Aubrey Brimer (2000); great grandson, Marco Brancati (1997); grandson, Robert Lee Breeden (2012); and son, William Carl Kautz, Jr. (2014).
Surviving family members include: daughter, Nancy K. Hylton (Nelson); granddaughter Louisa B. Brancati (Vic); great granddaughters, Elizabeth and Victoria Brancati; great grandson, Brandon Lee Breeden (Jessica); great great grandson, Carter Lee Breeden.
Elsie graduated from Montreat Norman School, Montreat, NC, and Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, FL. She was a successful teacher and honored in three states - West Virginia, Arkansas, and Florida - for "Excellence in Education". During her long life she was active in many civic organizations. She enjoyed playing golf with three hole-in-ones to her credit, playing bridge, reading and her many friends. Burial will be at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
