Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Eloise Harper, age 89, of Blairsville, who passed away on Friday, February 10, 2017.
Eloise was born in Lumber City, Georgia, on November 18, 1927, a daughter of the late William Ray and Nan Estelle Clements Ray. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville and had been preceded in death by her husband, I.W. Harper, in 2005. Eloise always put her family first. She was an eternal optimist, and she always brought that into her conversation. She always had a smile for you. Even when you called her, that smile came through her voice. She was an avid card player and made friends with such ease. She was involved with her community from being in the Dogwood Garden Club to being the cookie coordinator for her daughters Girl Scout group. She was a member of the Beta Mu Sorority and the Goodyear Elementary PTA. Eloise was the office manager for Dr's Inman and Snyder in Brunswick, GA for many years before she retired and moved to Blairsville with her husband, Irvin.
Surviving family members include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Barbara Harper, of Blue Ridge, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Larry Roberson of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Robert Hall of Hortense, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Clarice and Larry Lawrence of Brunswick, GA; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.
Blairsville area Funeral services have been scheduled for Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with Dr. Fred Lodge and Rev. Roy Bateman officiating. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Mike Wilcox, Robbie Hall, Jacob Cottle, Jeff Roberson, Kevin Swain, and Les Hall. Burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Park in Brunswick, GA.
The family will meet with friends on Monday, February 13, 2017, at Cochran Funeral Home in Blairsville, between the hours of 5 until 7 p.m.
The family will also receive friends in Brunswick, Georgia at Brunswick Memorial Park on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 1 until 2 p.m. with a Graveside Service to follow at 2:30 p.m.
