Elmer Garren Ellis, age 93 of Morganton, GA, passed away Monday, September 1, 2008 at Fannin Regional Hospital. Ellis was born Friday, October 9, 1914 in Fannin Co.to the late Bill Garren and the late Ida Cole Garren. A member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, homemaker; enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and taking care of her family, She was preceded in death by husband, Oscar Lee Ellis, son, Robert Ellis, Jr. sister, Rosie Townson.
Survivors include: son, Billy and Vivienne Ellis of Mineral Bluff, daughter, Jean Rogers of Marietta, daughter, Jeri Goggins of Acworth, 9 grandchildren; Kathy McEreath, Nick Goggins, Tony Goggins, Tammy Mann, Veronica Sosebee, Elizabeth Marple, Tracey Hill, Wendy Huffman, Tina Smith; 15 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Samuel Manus officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Nick Goggins, Tony Goggins, Danny Hill, John Marple, Jessie Cargle, Ricky Mann.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at the Henry Cochran Funeral Home.
