Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Sue Turner, age 77, of Blairsville, who passed away Monday, October 1, 2012, in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.
Sue was a native of Union County, Georgia, and was born on June 30, 1935, to the late James Lee Henderson and Nora Williams Henderson. Sue was a lifelong resident in Blairsville and a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville. Besides her parents, she had been preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
Sue was dearly loved, and will be missed greatly by all who knew her, but especially her family members: husband, John J. Turner, Jr., of Blairsville; son and daughter-in-law, Garry and Kim Turner of Dahlonega, Georgia; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Karen Turner, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Bo Edwards, of St. Petersburg, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Terrie and Jay Mitchell, of Jacksonville, Florida; and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jennifer Turner, of Taswell, Tennessee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Clyde and Sue Collins, of Blairsville; grandchildren: Nicholas Turner, Ryan Turner, Jordan Turner, Lara Turner, Branden Edwards, Kerrie Edwards, Kristen Edwards, Michelle Smith, Joshua Mitchell, Noah Turner, Luke Turner; Step grandchildren: Blair Goldbacher, Nicole Goldbacher, Christina, Katie Wyatt, Courtney Buchanan, Chad Cooper; great grandchildren: Tyler Smith and Aurora Mitchell.
Funeral services for Sue have been scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2012, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Dr. Fred Lodge, Rev. Danny Parris, and Rev. B.A. Buchanan officiating. Special music will be presented by Minister of Music R. Terry Hooper. The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Nicholas Turner, Ryan Turner, Branden Edwards, Joshua Mitchell, Bo Edwards, Jay Mitchell, and Brad McAfee. The following grandsons will serve as honorary escort to the family: Luke Turner, Noah Turner, and Tyler Smith. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Blairsville on Thursday, the same day of the service, starting at 2 p.m.
