Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Ella Sue Hamby, age 83, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Union County Nursing Home.
Mrs. Hamby was born in Blairsville on January 15, 1933, a daughter of the late Virgil Kelley and the late Snow Addington Kelley. She was employed with the Union County School System as a teacher's aide/parapro for many years. Ella Sue had been had active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Blairsville Chapter, the Lions Club Auxiliary, and First Baptist Church of Blairsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Neal. Ella Sue was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and faithful friend.
Ella Sue was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family members: son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Catherine Hamby, of Blairsville; sister, Betty Ann Williams, of Blairsville; and grandchildren, Kristin Nicole Hamby and Kyle Anthony Hamby.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hamby have been scheduled for Wednesday, May 4th, 2016, at 3:00 p.m., to be held in the Rock Chapel of First Baptist Church of Blairsville, with Rev. Chris Miller officiating. Special music will be presented by Mike and Rebecca Medori. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Williams, Jim Williams, Kyle Hamby, Scott Carter, Laurence Fisher, and Max Cochran. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville. The family will meet with friends at the Rock Chapel, on Wednesday, May 4th, the day of the service, from the hours of 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
