Elizabeth Ann Simonds

Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Simonds, age 95, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Simonds was born on December 13, 1928, to the late Luther H. and Elizabeth Ann Hamlin Abernathy. She was preceded by her loving husband, James Lewis Simonds and ten siblings. Liz is survived by her sons; Byron (Kyle) and Lamar (Fiancee Laura) Simonds; sister, Sue Ackridge; grandchildren, Morgan, Sheldon and Tyler Simonds, Barrett Simonds Chandler Great Grandchildren, Katie Chandler and Josh Chandler, Jr. Many additional nieces and nephews also survive. Liz was affectionately known as Cupie after the Cupie doll. She enjoyed her community and shared her ministering spirit in love with others. She was a dedicated Christian and her servant spirit was often found in sharing food with those in need both in the church family and the community at large. She was a true hostess in her home and as a decorator she made her home a warm and welcome atmosphere for family and friends. Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from First Baptist Church Epworth, Georgia at 2:00 pm, with Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Music will be provided by Rev. Doug Simonds. Interment will follow in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Epworth, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends during a time of visitation on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 5pm to 8pm at Cochran/McDaniel Funeral Home McCaysville, Georgia.
