Eleanor Welborn Lee

Eleanor Lee, a loving wife and friend, and respected member of her community, passed away on September 18th, 2023 at Brasstown Manor in Hiawassee, Georgia at the age of 92. She was born on August 17th, 1931 in Blairsville, Georgia. 

Eleanor was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Kermit Hugh Lee. She loved to fish with her husband Hugh. It was during these moments spent on calm waters that she found solace and relaxation. She served in the Taraahettes Shrine Club.

Eleanor touched the lives of many throughout her lifetime and formed strong connections with both family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Hugh Lee; parents, Frankie Wellborn and Olin Wellborn; sisters Sarah W. Carmon, Helen W. Owenby; brothers James Rogers, Olin Foster Wellborn Jr.; sisters-in-laws Sylvia Lee Crossland, Ilene Laney Terry and brother-in-law Henry Dale Laney; grandparents Tom Rogers and Ali Reid Rogers and Alonzo Wellborn and Caroline Pless Wellborn.

Eleanor is survived by her sister-in-law Sue Laney. Their presence in her life past and present brought her immeasurable joy, and she treasured the moments they shared.

The memory of Eleanor Lee will forever be held dear in the hearts of those who knew her. Her laughter, dedication, and strong moral character continue to inspire and guide us.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at 3:30pm from Union Memory Gardens Cemetery in Blairsville, Georgia with Rev.  Dr. Tom Jordan officiating.  Friends, family, and all who had the pleasure of knowing Eleanor are invited to gather at Union Memory Gardens at 3:30pm to honor her life and bid farewell.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children. May we all find solace in the memories we shared with this remarkable individual whose legacy will live on in our hearts.
