Eleanor Jean Dobson

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Jean Dobson, lovingly known as "Ellie", age 78, of Blairsville, who passed away on Monday, July 16th, 2018, in Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga,Tennessee.

Mrs. Dobson was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, and had lived in Stone Mountain for a while before moving to Blairsville in 1994. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Oasis Club at the church. She loved ceramics and taught ceramics classes as well. Ellie was the founder and president of the Georgia Mountain Writer's Club. She loved to write stories and memoirs about her life experiences and her faith. Ellie was a member of the Georgia Mountain YaYa Sisterhood, a group of ladies that would gather together on occasion, get dressed up with large hats and enjoy dinner, outings and games together. Ellie was extremely family-oriented and, and had many friendships, some of whom she had kept in touch with since childhood.

Mrs. Dobson married her husband Jim in 1989 - they had known each other since the '60's. After he passed away, she missed him terribly. Mrs. Dobson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Lynn Vickers; two grandsons: Matthew Dalton and Bradley Dalton; and a sister, Linda Neuhaus

She leaves behind her loving family members: daughter, Debbie Dalton; daughter, Wendy Miller; and son, Fielding "Howell" Vickers; sister, Gail Zaloznik, and brother, Jerry Puckett; five grandchildren, whom she loved so much: Carrie, Casey, and Kelly Vickers; and Justin Miller and Jeremy Miller; and a great granddaughter Payton Miller.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, August 4th, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., to be held at First United Methodist Church of Union County, with Pastor Mark Burgess officiating.

The family will meet with friends on Saturday, at 10 a.m. before the services begin, at First United Methodist Church of Union County.
