Ms. Elaine Ruth Cantrell of Blairsville, GA went home to the Lord on Saturday, September 15th.
Ms. Cantrell was born July 21, 1942 in Akron, Ohio to the late Frederick and Ida Ridenour of Ohio.
A loving wife and mother, Elaine's passion was her family. She was a joy to be around, always optimistic and fun loving. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and enjoyed working with the youth group and singing in the choir. She and her husband Jay loved to travel and had adventured through all 50 states and 2 other countries together. She also enjoyed attending the Senior Center in Union County, she always loved to dance and had a great time learning how to line dance there.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jay C. Cantrell and daughter Judy Snider. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Cantrell Ballard and son-in-law Brad Ballard, Peggy Smith, and Joan Madden, Sister Edie and husband Jerry Chewning, Brothers Don Ridenour, Fred "Bud" and wife Dana Ridenour, Joe and wife Jeanette Ridenour, Larry and wife Donna Ridenour, Sister-in-law Sis Seabolt. Grandchildren: Thomas Snider, Tammy Hoffman, Todd and Troy Berisford, and January Madden. Lilly Lovell, 6 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 6th, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. in Munroe Falls Metro Park, Meadow View Pavilion in Tallmadge, Ohio.
The Interment service will be held on Saturday, October 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Blairsville, Georgia with Pastor Hughes officiating. All friends and family are welcome to attend both services.
