Edward Jackson Smith

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces the death of Mr. Edward Jackson Smith, Jr., who passed away on January 18, 2018 at the Hayesville House in Hayesville, NC.
He was a gentle, kind man with a servant's heart. A devoted follower of Christ, a faithful husband, protective father and loyal friend to many. He loved his family and was a great provider. His spiritual gift was giving and he always helped people in need. He was quiet and reserved, but wise and analytical. Had a great sense of humor and loved by everyone. He loved God's Word and based his life on God's principles. He taught Sunday School and served as a deacon. Telling others about Jesus was his greatest delight.
Mr. Smith is survived by daughters & sons-in-law, Kimberly (Daniel) Sims of Young Harris, GA, Julie (Reed) Ulery of Falling Waters, WV, and Jodi (Keith) Layne of Lynchburg, VA; son & daughter-in-law, Jonathan (Debra) Smith of Boonsboro, MD; brother, Thomas Smith of McConnellsburg, PA; and 16 grandchildren, Erica, Amberly, Matthew, Joey, Andrea, Krisi, Joshua, Jenna, Jillian, Daniel, Logan, Dylan, Lakin, Jedidiah, Jadyn & Kambria. Also, sharing in his legacy are 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are planned to be held at Geencastle Baptist Church in Greencastle, PA on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Zimmerman & Sons Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
