Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces memorial services for Mr. Edward H. Nathan, 87, of Blairsville who died Friday, September 4, 2015 at his home in Blairsville after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on July 29, 1928.
Ed's deep and lasting commitment to his faith in Jesus Christ was recognized by all who knew him. He served as a criminal investigation officer in the U.S. Army, honorably discharged; he was a successful businessman; he was dedicated to his work with the Gideon's; and he served for many years as Treasurer of the local Women's Enrichment Center; and he served as Elder for many years at his church - AND he loved to play golf. Ed was a humble man who shared his time and talents with community organizations and his church - a legacy that will live on....Ed had been preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalie Nathan.
Ed is survived by his wife, Joe Ann Nathan, of Blairsville; daughter, Michelle Aileen Collins, of Blairsville; daughter, Patricia Ann Nathan, of Greenville, South Carolina; and step-son, V. Nelson Barton, of Easley, South Carolina; grandchildren: Daniel Scott Willimon, of Powdersville, South Carolina; Jessica Ashley Collins, of Atlanta; Adrienne Biediger, of Greer, South Carolina; and Christina Victoria Lewis, of Atlanta; step-granddaughters: Audra Barton, of Columbia, South Carolina, and Haley Barton, of Charlotte, North Carolina; great grandchildren: Zane and Brooklyn Biediger.
The service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at Blairsville Church of God, with Rev. John Davis officiating. All who attend are invited to stay for lunch following the service.
