The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces services for Mr. Edward (Fedo) Hedden, age 82, of Hiawassee who passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Hedden was a native and lifelong resident of Hiawassee, born February 16, 1930 to the late Edd and Belle Hedden. He is survived by his wife Linda Hedden of the home, 3 daughters, Roxanne Hicks (Glen), Eileen Hedden, and Michelle Hedden, 1 son, Russell Hedden (Donna), 3 sisters, Patricia Plott, Kate Waldroup, and Ellen Sue Wilson and 1 stepson, Scott Davis (Heather), 5 grandchildren Stetson and Sterling Hedden, Josh Hedden, Brandon and Jordan Hicks, 3 step-grandchildren, Emily, Kyle, and Seth Davis, and 2 great grandchildren Brodie and Delaney Hicks, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Paul Hedden, Ketron “Ket” Hedden and Douglas “Bally” Hedden and 5 sisters, Peggy McClure, Virginia “Ping” Segars, Mary Shook, Joyce Mills, and Dottie Hedden.
He served in the US Army in the early 50's in Occupied Japan, was employed by the Atlanta Fire Department and Georgia Dept. of Transportation in the 50's, elected to the Georgia House of Representatives from 1959-1960, and was employed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and retired after 30 years of service, and later was also employed by Hiawassee Hardware. He was a member of the Towns County Lion's Club and Unicoi Masonic Lodge #259. Fedo loved the Lord and loved to attend church and will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 6, 2012 from Osborn Cemetery with Rev. Harold Ledford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 9 pm.
