Ed Thompson

Mr. Ed Thompson, age 95 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007 at his residence.

Mr. Thompson was born Tuesday, September 3, 1912 in Kings County, NY to the late Edward Thomas Thompson, Sr. and the late Cora Belle Waite Thompson. He attended schools in Brooklyn, NY and gradauted from Pace University. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. After the war Mr. Thompson resided in Stamford, CT and Miami, FL before retiring to Blairsville.

During his years of employment he held postions with such companys as Carter Products, Continental Check Corporation, Ryder Truck Lines, Riddle Airlines, Arvida Greenhouses, Decatur Iron and Steel Company and Southeast Bank.

Mr. Thompson was a member of First United Methodist Church of Union County and Friends of the Library. He was preceded in death by wife, Elizabeth (Bettie) Thompson.

Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Elizabeth and Terry Kelley of St. Augustine, FL, son & daughter-in-law, E. Thomas (Tom) and Mi Lan Thompson, III of Norcross, GA, daughter, Nancy Thompson of Atlanta , GA, grandchildren, Nancy Jennifer Folsom, Holly Elizabeth Vaupel and William Edward Folsom, great-granddaughters, Emily Mae Folsom and Aubrielle Vaupel.Also the family would like to give special thanks to Linda Proco for her dedicated caregiving for both parents.

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 31, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-6, Saturday, December 29.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to The Salvation Army.

The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
