Mr. Earnest Wayne Parmer, age 64 of Mineral Bluff, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge, GA. Mr. Parmer was born March 16, 1949 in, Guntersville, AL to the late Curtis Parmer and the late Inez Lillian Maze Parmer.
After graduating EMT school at Calhoun Community College in Huntsville, AL, he enlisted in the US Army where he was a veteran, serving as a field medic in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne and the 82nd Airborne. After leaving the military, he became a policeman in Grant, AL. He loved serving his country and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors, walking, hiking and fishing. as well as animals and cars. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Bobby and Neil Parmer.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Stacey (Joe) Ross, son & daughter-in-law, Jarrod (Wendy) Parmer, son, Eric Parmer. and daughter Tammy Holcomb, sister, Linda (Randall) Smith, 7 grandchildren Derek Henson, Logan Massey, Joe Talin Ross, Juanita Brown, Jessica Segers, Aubrae Taylor & Gabriel Parmer & 2 great grandchildren, Alexis Henson & Brantley Henson.
Funeral services: Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. John Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton at 1:30 p.m with full military honors.
The family will receive friends at the Henry- Cochran Funeral Home from 10:00a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 to service time at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to the American Cancer Society, the Wounded Warrior Project or the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
