Blue Ridge, Georgia — Dwight "Ferrell" Earley, 84, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight L. and Nettie Lewis Patterson Earley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Frances Jean (Anderson) Earley, his daughter, Debra J. (Earley) Heller and her husband, Dr. Eugene W. Heller, one grandson, David F. Jaynes, one granddaughter, Miranda Kay (Jaynes) Childers and her husband, Joshua Childers.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Ferrell served in the US Army, stationed at Camp Gordon, Augusta, GA. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to his job at General Motors (GM) Lakewood Fisher Body plant in Atlanta. In addition to his interest in woodworking, Ferrell was a life-long Nascar fan and enjoyed collecting Nascar memorabilia. He retired from his supervisory position with General Motors in 1990. In 1994, he and his wife retired in Blue Ridge, Georgia, where they resided until his passing.
Visitation will be held at the Henry Cochran Funeral Home, 3911 Appalachian Hwy Blue Ridge, GA Thursday, July 20th, from 5-8PM and Friday afternoon from 1-2 pm, followed by a "Celebration of Life Service", officiated by Pastor Asa Dockery, at 2 pm at the Funeral Home. Graveside Service to follow on Tuesday, July 25th at 1:30 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, Georgia.
