Douglas McArthur "Mac"

Mr. Douglas "Mac" McArthur Cox, age 71 of Morganton, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at his home. Mr. Cox was born April 30, 1942 in Morganton, GA to the late Clem Iverson Cox and Ruby Leona Cruse Cox. He was a member of the Concord Baptist Church, and also a member of the Morganton Masonic Lodge 201, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce O'Neil, Aubree Porter and Madelyn Rogers.

Survivors include daughter, Tammy (Cody) Hicks, son, Jamie (Mary Jane) Cox, five grandchildren, Keshia Dover, Kayla Davenport, Tylor Hicks, Alisha Winkler, and Carly Cox, three great-grandchildren, Kylan Dover, Kyndall Dover, and Lana Hicks. Also several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 15, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eric Davenport and Rev. Phillip Weeks officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Clyde Cruse, Tylor Hicks, Cody Hicks, Andrew Davenport, Kevin Dover, and David Rogers. Honorary pallbearers are John Sammon, Bobby Chastain, Larry Cruse, Danny Foster, Cody Rogers, Lynn Porter, Bobby Winkler, Walter Drake and Mark Tuttle, Sr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening November 14, 2013 from 5-9 pm.
