Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Velma Dyer, age 90, native and lifelong resident of Blairsville, who passed away on Thursday, April 18th, 2019.
Mrs. Dyer was the daughter of the late John Franklin Dyer and the late Ida Nix Dyer. She was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church. Besides her parents, Mrs. Dyer had been preceded in death by her husband, F.E. Dyer; a sister, Lavada Hood; and a brother, Michael Dyer.
Family members left behind to treasure the memory of Mrs. Dyer are: daughter and son-in-law, Connie Jeannine Dyer and Larry White, of Cumming, Georgia;son and daughter-in-law, Ivan Eugene and Margaret Dyer, of Andalusia, Alabama; and son and daughter-in-law, Tim M. and Nancy Dyer, of Blairsville; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Vitamae Dyer; brother, Crett Dyer; brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Olene Dyer; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Edith Dyer, all of Blairsville; sister, Paulette Ramsey, of Cumming, Georgia; three grandchildren: Jason Eugene Dyer and Alexandra Marie Dyer, both of Atlanta, and Emily Elizabeth Dyer, of Blairsville. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, April 20th, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., to be held at Choestoe Baptist Church in Blairsville, with Rev. Ken Zollinger and Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. The body will lie instate at the church starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. The burial will be in Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery, with the following gentlemen requested to serve as pallbearers: Bud Hunter, Jason Dyer, Gary Lochbaum, Kenny Dyer, and Calvin Hood.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 19th, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Flowers are being accepted; however, if you wish, memorial contributions may be made to Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery Fund; or to The Alzheimer's Association.
