Dorothy "Dot" Pickelsimer Thomas

Mrs. Dorothy Pickelsimer Thomas, age 89 of Morganton, went to her heavenly home on November 6, 2015. Mrs. Thomas was born November 8, 1926 in Barberton, OH to the late Wesley Pickelsimer and the late Mary LeAnna Scroggs Picklesimer. A member of Morganton Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Joseph Carl Thomas, step-father, Luther Brackett, brother, Luther Brackett, Jr., brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Blanche Brackett, brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Dot Brackett, son-in-law, Sammy Long and several brothers and sisters-in-law who she loved dearly. Being the wife of a Deacon, Dot would open up her home to pastors and missionaries entertaining them for sometimes a week at a time. She was a great cook, she loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a beautiful seamstress and she also liked gardening in her spare time.

Survivors include three daughters, Glenda (Danny) Puckett, Linda Long, and Teresa (Mike) Williams, five grandchildren, Steven Anthony Wright, Tammy L. Long, Russell Williams, Gretchen Williams Mathias, and LeAnna Long Newton, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one sister-in-law, Gean Brackett and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Parris officiating and Darlene Brackett Couch reading the Eulogy. Music will be provided by Scott and Phillip Thomas. Interment will follow in the Morganton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Darrell Arthur, Freddie Thomas, Jr., Russell Williams, Tony Wright, and Stephanie Wright. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eulas Thomas, Ernie Yana, Carl Newton, Kaitlyn Williams, Anderson Mathias, Cooper Williams, Cash Williams, Graham Mathias, Lance Williams, and Seth Wright.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm.
