Dorothy Farmer Galloway

Mrs.Dorothy Farmer Galloway, age 85, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Kennestone Hospital . Dorothy was born in Mineral Bluff, GA. to parents, Hayden & Lula Robinson Farmer on February 27, 1924. She was married to Noel Galloway, longtime resident of Fannin County. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge for over 40 years where she served in various positions, focusing on children's ministries. She also served as secretary of the church in the 70's. She was retired from Johns-Mansfield Corp. of Chamblee, GA. She was a volunteer for many years as a Pink Lady at Fannin Regional Hospital, having to resign due to dialysis treatments. She enjoyed music, dancing, excercising, playing cards with friends, traveling and being with her family.
She overcame difficulty in her life by trusting God to give her strength to stay strong and stay independent as long as he allowed her to. Her dialysis treatments weakened her body but not her spirit!
She will be remembered by her faith in God, beautiful smile, energetic attitude & love for her children and family. She will truly be missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Galloway; parents, Hayden & Lula Farmer; brother, Garnett Farmer; sisters, Immogene Farmer, Mildred Postelle; niece, Rachel Ann Heaton; great nephew, Mark Heaton; sister-in-law, Joanne Farmer.
Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Richard & Margaret Folsom of Acworth, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Connie & Danny Kirby of Morganton, GA; granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Gina & Sammy Ledford; granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Ami & Jeff Riggs; granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Monica & Jeff Crawford; grandson & granddaughter-in-law, Brian & Holly Folsom; granddaughter & grandson-in-law, Lori & Ben Hanson; grandson, Mathew Kirby; 10 great grandchildren: Hannah, Joshua, & Timothy Ledford; Kyle & Dillon Riggs, Corey Crawford, Emma & Kate Folsom, Abby & Joshua Hanson; sister, Grace Benefield; brother, Danny Farmer; Nieces: Sherry Reeves & Shelia Collins; and nephew, Joe Farmer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge with the Reverend A. J. Heaton and Dr. Charlie Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Hot House Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Brian Folsom, grandson; Sammy Ledford, Jr., grandson-in-law; Jeff Crawford, grandson-in-law; Mathew Kirby, grandson; Jeff Riggs, grandson-in-law; and Joe Farmer, nephew. Honorary pallbearers include: Ben Hanson, grandson-in-law.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 14, from 6-9 PM.
