Dorothy Elizabeth Reece

Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Stanley Reece, age 93, of McCaysville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 27, 2021, with her family by her side at Pruitt Health Care. Mrs. Reece was born on January 6, 1928, in McCaysville, GA, to the late William Aaron Stanley, Sr. and the late Lula Ann Turner Stanley. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville, a Faith Sunday School Class member, and The Women's Missionary Union. She always had compassion and love for others and loved being a part of the Benevolence Committee, providing meals for those who lost loved ones. Dot and Joyce Hampton served as team members for years on this committee. She was also a member of the Prime Time Choir. Dot was a wonderful cook and would often have friends and family in her home to serve them. Mrs. Reece was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having worked in McCaysville, Blue Ridge, Epworth, and Ellijay. One of her favorite past times was square dancing with the love of her life, Howard. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard Reece, Sr., her brother, William "Billy" Stanley, her young sister, Peggy Stanley, cousin Louise Baugh Kennedy, and friend, Kathleen Arp.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Alice Walker of McCaysville, sons, Ronald Stephen (Janine) Reece of Canton, and Buck (Donna) Reece of Blue Ridge, grandchildren, Brian (Karen) Walker of Prosper, TX, Sarah Walker (Martin Thomas) of Mineral Bluff, Chad (Amanda) Reece of Blue Ridge, Cristy (Jason) Woody of McCaysville, Aaron (Morgan) Reece of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Emily (Brandon) Reece Cobb of Douglasville, GA, and Elizabeth Reece of Kennesaw, GA., great-grandchildren, Reece Walker, Nathan Walker, C. J. Reece, Cayden Reece, Carlee Reece, Cam Reece, Grayson Woody, Georgia Reece, Alex Cobb, and Liam Cobb.

Funeral services: Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 3:00 PM, from the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill, with Rev. Matthew McDaniel officiating. Music provided by Connie Davis and Debbie Cochran. Interment will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Copperhill. Pallbearers: Brian Walker, Nathan Walker, Chad Reece, C.J. Reece, Cayden Reece, Jason Woody, Grayson Woody, and Aaron Reece.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill Saturday, July 31, 2021, from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.

The family gives special thanks to their neighbors, Andy and Mandy Nazerian, Pruitt Hospice, Pruitt Health Care, Amy Cook, and Melissa Cole.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill for Women on Missions.
