Mrs. Dorothy Louise Bandy, age 84, of McCaysville, GA, passed away Friday, February 20, 2009 at Wellstar Health System in Cobb County. Mrs. Bandy was born Saturday, October 25, 1924 in Polk County, TN to the late Lucious E. Burger and the late Mary P. Hill Burger.
Dorothy got so much joy from helping people, from new moms with new babies, to other elderly people who need to be taken to church, senior centers, or just to get groceries. She had spent over 25 years of volunteer services to senior centers and to making quilts and crafts to sale, to provide money for the trips for the elderly before she suffered a major stroke in 1997.
Her greatest love was for her husband, Johnny, homemaking and cooking. She had much love for all children, but lavished her love and care on her nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed singing and played the piano. She sang solos and with a quartet. She always sang as she worked in her garden, it was thought that was the reason the flowers bloomed so beautifully and why the birds would be so abundant.
She will be always be remembered, loved and appreciated for the devotion and help that she gave to so many. Her family will always love and miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny E. Bandy, brothers, Norman Felix of McCaysville, Victor Elwyn and Voyte Gene both of Texas, and sister Mary Genevieve Spargo of VA.
