Doris Garland

Doris Marie Shook Garland, 86, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024, surrounded by family at Pruitt Healthcare in Blue Ridge, Georgia. Doris was born June 27, 1938, in Bartow County, Georgia to the late Emmanuel Monroe Shook and the Lily Adeline Ledford Shook.

Doris was preceded in death by her spouse, Jessie Charles Garland; siblings, Edna Shook, James Shook, Margie Jones, Delia Ray, Nell Gibbs, Ralph Shook, Alive Jackson, Thelma Layman, Johnny Shook, and Barbara Branton.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Jeannie) Garland; daughter, Susie (Tim) Taylor; son Wayne (Elizabeth) Garland; grandchildren, Nathan (Loli) Taylor, Nick (Julie) Taylor, Anna Garland, Will Garland, Destiny Garland, Cooper Garland, Bentley Garland, great granddaughter, and Aya Taylor. Several brothers and sisters in-laws, nieces and nephews, and special friends also survive.

Doris was a loving foster parent to 22 children, an excellent piano teacher, and caring nurse. Her greatest attributes include being a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Memorial Service, on Friday August 9, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Tim Taylor officiating.

The family will receive friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel on Friday, 9th of August, 2024 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM.
