Donald Jones

Donald Richard Jones, age 79, of Murphy, North Carolina passed away in the Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Georgia on January 3, 2025.

Donald was born on December 25, 1945 in Fort Pierce, Florida. His parents, Edward Fountain and Lillie Sapp Fountain, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by brothers; Edward Fountain, Jr. and Alan Fountain; sister, Cora Bell Tallman.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Sandy McAllister Jones; children; Lisa (Rich) Harris and Stephanie Taegar-Matus; grand daughters; Alyssa Taegar-Matus and Madison Taegar-Matus.

Donald was known by many family and friends as truly one of a kind. He enjoyed racing and raced cars himself. He truly was devoted to his wife Sandy and loved his daughters and grand daughters. He faithfully served with honor in the United States Air Force and his community in his career as a deputy sheriff in Martin County Florida, rising to the rank of captain. Donald was a humble man with a servant demeanor seeking to be there for others in their times of need. He was very handy when it came to any type of repairs that needed to be made and also was a very accomplished carpenter. He was known for his keen sense of humor to those around him. Donald also enjoyed traveling and found great solace in cruises.
