Mr. Dominic Compana, age 78 of Blairsville, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Northside Cherokee Hospital in Canton, GA. Mr. Compana was born July 24, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph Compana and the late Philamina LaVita Compana. He was a member of the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, boating and when he was able, riding on his motorcycle. He was a dedicated 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. During his service he did two tours during the Vietnam War. After he retired from the military, he became a policeman for the Roswell Police Department. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Maynard Compana.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Compana Galvin (Paul), Debra Anne Compana, and Susan Marie Compana-Sadler (Edward), one sister, Josephine Chabert, six grandchildren, Jason, Nicholas, Christopher, David, Melissa and Alexandra, one great-grandchild, Larissa, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 am the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home with the Pastor Bill Swafford officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia National Cemetery at 12:30 pm. Serving as Pallbearers will be members of the active duty Air Force Honor Guard along with Paul Galvin, Edward Sadler, Jason Hall, and Christopher Hall.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 1:00-3:00 pm.
