Nisia Redgrave was born in St. Augustine Florida, December 19, 1954 to Miriam and “Pete” Walton. Several months later they moved to Orlando with Nisia and her older sister, Caroline.  There, Nisia
attended Catholic school, K thru 12th grade. She attended Good Shepherd School and then Bishop Moore H.S., graduating in 1973. She then attended Valencia Junior College and then UCF, graduating with a degree in Communicative Disorders. She began Working at the Orlando Police Department as a dispatcher and teletype operator in 1979. She also dispatched at Orlando International Airport just prior to transferring to OPD. She met her husband to be, John, while working at the Police Department. John was a police officer and Nisia decided to become a police officer as well. She was hired and went to the police academy, and became the smallest officer ever hired by the Orlando Police Department, at that time. Nisia was smart and a hard working patrol officer. She then got a transfer into the School Resource Officer Unit and worked at Jones High School for many years and then Memorial Junior High. During these years, she made such an impression on several students, that they also became Orlando Police Officers and they had successful careers and are now retired themselves.  Later, Nisia transferred into the Crimes Against Children Unit as a detective. She made many cases during her time in the Unit ,including,
two separate cases for Munchausen by proxy, at a time when very few cases had ever been made for this unusual crime. In addition, she cross trained as a Mounted Patrol Officer and rode horses in extra details, football games, and additional downtown patrol. Detective Redgrave retired in June of 2000, while assigned to the  Sex Crimes Unit.
Nisia was preceded in death by her parents Miriam and Pete Walton.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Redgrave III; son, John (Erika) Redgrave IV; step-daughters, Jenny (Rod) Rucker, Jilly (Jason) Bergeron; grandchildren, Abby, Jocelyn, Aiden, Jeorgia, Jude, Harper, and Bridges; sister, Caroline (Eugene) Andre; nieces, Amy and Beth; nephew, Chuck; and many other loved ones.

Her family was her life. She was the loving mother to John IV, and stepmother to Jenny and Jilly. She was the Love and the common sense of the family. She loved helping with school and Sports activities at St. Charles Catholic School as well as the Quarterback club at Union County High School in Blairsville. Nisia along with her family, was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Blairsville Georgia. She loved fellowship with the ladies in the Circle of Love at the Church, along with cooking teams, and Mission trips to Mexico and to the Red Bird Mission. Lastly, she loved her husband John, dearly, and made him the man, husband, father, and grandfather that he is today.
