Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces the death of Mrs. Diane M. Gazzillo, age 72, of Blairsville,Georgia who passed away at her home on the morning of Wednesday, August 12, 2015, after an extended battle with cancer.
Diane was born in Yonkers, New York on July 6, 1943 to Joseph and Marian Finnan. As a child, she traveled frequently with her family between New York and Florida.
The family resided in several South Florida cities before settling in Palm Beach County. After receiving a local teaching scholarship, Diane was a member of the first graduating class at Florida Atlantic University. Following graduation, she began a long teaching career at various elementary schools throughout Palm Beach County. During this time, she met and married her second husband, Bob Gazzillo on July 26, 1986.
After they both retired, Diane and Bob built a home in the mountains and moved to the Blairsville area in 1996. While in the area, Diane and Bob operated B & D Designs, which provided fine interior decor to many homes and businesses throughout the North Georgia area.
Diane is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Gazzillo; her daughter, Alison (Brent) Abbatantuono; her brother, Michael (Ricki) Finnan; and sister, Jackie Koleos. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews, as well as her grandson, Charles; and several step-grandchildren.
