Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Deryl Glenn Canady, age 62, of Young Harris, Georgia, who passed away on Monday, March 18th, 2019 in Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia.
Mr. Canady was born in Macon, Georgia, a son of the late Robert Thomas Canady and the late Zadie Mae Stanfill Canady. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Deryl will be remembered as a generous, family-loving man, one who would give you the shirt off his back. He believed in hard work, and leading by example. Deryl enjoyed motorcycles and went to Daytona Bike Week every year for 20 years! He was a classic cars enthusiast - he finished a '67 Chevy Nova II that had been in storage for 17 years, and rebuilt numerous projects over the years. Deryl found time to do woodworking, a hobby that he was quite skilled at. Besides his parents, he had been preceded in death by a brother, Stan Canady.
Family members left to treasure his memory are: his loving wife of 36 years, Donna Stanley Canady; a daughter, Jessica (Derrick) Owens; and a son, Joshua (Amber) Canady; sisters: Ellen (Roger) Gerber; Sue (Lorel) Stanfield; brothers: Wayne Canady and Tommy (Ellie) Canady; grandchildren (who were his best buddies!) Jacob Owens, Kade Owens and Wren Canady. Many other relatives and friends also share in his legacy.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2019, to be held at 3:00 p.m. at Vogel State Park's Lakeside Pavilion. Special music will be presented by Audrey Scarbrough. The family will receive friends at Cochran Funeral Home on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Ed Stanley, Lane Stanley, Ron Chambers, Derrick Owens, Charlie Hamilton, and Daniel Allen.
