Dennis H. MacDiarmid

Mr. Dennis H. MacDiarmid, age 86, of Blairsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday evening, October 12, 2022, and is now Corem Deo, before the face of God! He loved the Lord and His Word! One favorite Scripture he memorized was Psalm 90:14, “Satisfy me in the morning with your unfailing love, that I may sing for joy and be glad all my days.” And he is actively doing just that.
He was born January 25, 1936, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, to the late Hugh MacDiarmid and Georgina Ford MacKenzie MacDiarmid. Two other siblings preceded him in death, his sister, Barbara Jean Bulmer and brother Arnold Neil MacDiarmid. 
Dennis was an active member of Grace Presbyterian Church since 2009. He loved reformed teaching, especially the 5 Solas, Scripture alone, faith alone, Grace alone, Christ alone and to the glory of God alone. He was drafted into the US Army in Michigan as a Canadian citizen and faithfully served a country he loved for 20-years. His had tours of duty in Germany, Korea, and two tours in Vietnam as well as duty stations in the US. After his time in the Army, he was given the opportunity to change uniforms and he became deputy for the Polk County Sheriff’s Department in Bartow, FL. for 23 years. Upon retiring from the sheriff’s department in 1997, he moved from Winter Haven, FL,  and came to Blairsville to his little cabin in the woods. He loved the four seasons and especially loved the fall when the leaves began to change.

Survivors include his loving wife, Carole Kirby MacDiarmid; children, Heidi (Jerry) Kelly, Debbie Whitten, Kathy Stefanov,
Wayne Moran, Brent (Michelle) Moran, Laura (Gary) Fussell, brother, Ian Hugh MacDiarmid, thirteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.
There will be a committal service at Georgia National Cemetery with Military Honors Monday, November 21, at 9:00 AM. Dr. Jon Jacobs officiate the Christian Committal.
