The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mrs. Delzie Lee Hooper, age 86 of HIawassee, who was called home on September 26, 2017.
She had a big heart and always worried about everyone else above herself. She was such a character, she had a very unique vocabulary system, all her own. She kept everyone around her entertained without even meaning to. She loved gardening, canning, hunting, fishing and cooking for her family. She also unimaginably survived losing not just one but two of her sons that left this earth years before her. Her pride and joy was her dog "Baby". She loved sitting on the front porch talking to her.
She will be warmly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: son, Ronnie Hooper of Hiawassee; 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Also, sharing in her legacy are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Leon Hooper; sons, J.C. Hooper and Michael Hooper; sisters, Ola Ledford, Velmera Phillips, Elize Denton, and Gladys Anderson; and brothers, Willis Burrell, Earney Burrell, Willie Burrell, and Robert Burrell.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Bradley Thomas officiating. Special music will be presented by Johnny and Jimmie Hogsed. Interment will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Roy Matheson, Christian Edwards, Curtis Garrison, Austin King, Alex King, and Anthony Hooper. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
