Deborah Thomas Allen, 67, passed away on December 17, 2019 at Northside Hospital in Atlanta surrounded by loving family. Debbie was born on March 13, 1952 in New York City to George Charles and Lucille Marie (Parker) Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Tony Allen.
Debbie grew up in East Point, GA and graduated from Russell High School in 1970. In that year, she was awarded the prestigious Paul D. West award as the top high school student in metro Atlanta. After high school, Debbie attended Georgia State University. She had a long and distinguished career in the computer software technology field as a systems analyst and software training consultant.
Throughout her life, Debbie loved water sports including sailing and scuba diving and cherished her times on the ocean. Her love of adventure included caving with her brothers and friends. After retirement, Debbie and Tony lived on Lake Lanier in Cumming, GA. After Tony passed away, Debbie moved to Blue Ridge, GA where she built a cabin on ten beautiful wooded acres and lived with her beloved German Shepherd Dakota.
Debbie is survived by her older sister Pat A. Thomas; her older brothers Charles D. Thomas and Jefferson L. Thomas; her younger brother Clint D. Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 25 at Coosa United Methodist Church in Blairsville, GA. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm. The service will begin at 2:00pm.
