Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces funeral services for Deborah Lee Jones Stephens, age 68, a lifelong resident of Blairsville, who passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at her home following an extended illness.
Deborah was the daughter of the late John Wesley Jones and the late Ruby Lee Sawyer Jones. Deborah was raised and spent the majority of her life on Jones Creek - living just across the street from her childhood home and parents. She was first and foremost a family person, always making sure her parents were taken care of, as well as her husband, son, nieces and nephew. Everything she did, she did big. She loved big, she smiled big, she laughed big...always the life of the party. She loved fun. Deborah enjoyed listening to country music, line dancing, working with flowers, Panama City Beach, and attending the Professional Bull Riding Association Finals in Las Vegas with friends. She was loved amongst her classmates and enjoyed working on the reunion committee. Charitable, always helping others in need when she was able to do so. Deborah was a hairdresser and she and her husband Andy owned and operated Westgate Video and Jewelry for many years and she was a member of Jones Creek Church of God. Deborah had been preceded in death by her beloved husband Andy, who passed away in 2016.
Deborah was dearly loved and her memory will be cherished by many; especially by her family members: son and daughter-in-law, Andretti and Cassie Stephens, of Blairsville; brother, Randolph Jones, of Blairsville; a grandson, Tyree Mackey; special niece, Olivia Jones; nieces: Angel King, and Leigha Fallis; and nephew, Casey Jones. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Friday, August 10, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., to be held in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Charles Brackett, Steve Wilson, Charlie Hinson, Tyree Mackey, Casey Jones, and Darren Jones. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as honorary escort to the family: Ed Stephens, Larry Stephens, Jasper Stephens, and Earl Brackett. Burial will be in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, and will be held at a later date.
