David Michael Quintrell

He attended East Fannin High School and the Goodwill School in Atlanta where he graduated with a certificate in electronics.  David was also a veteran of the United States Army serving a tour in Germany.  His hobbies were antique cars, guns, history and photography.  He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Hemptown Baptist Church.

David spent a great deal of his life in England as that was where his ancestors were from.  There is even a town named Quintrell Downs referencing his family.  He was made an honorary member of the Royal British Legion and took a big part in their Poppy Drive for veterans.  He could tell you all about his ancestors.  At one time he lived several years in a mobile home in Morganton, Georgia that he called Buckingham Palace.

David was preceded in death by his mother Edith (Beaver) Thomas and step-father George Thomas and survived by step-sisters Elizabeth (Buster) Reece of Gainesville, Georgia and Mary Frances Shiels of Norcross, Georgia.  His brothers, Thomas (Barbara) Quintrell of Dawsonville, Georgia, Buzz (Anne) Quintrell of Mineral Bluff, Georgia and James (Kathy) Thomas of Lenox, Georgia and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews and many cousins he was close to. David will be greatly missed by all!

Services will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Butch Jones officiating.  The family will receive visitors at the funeral home at 1:00 PM.  David will be laid to rest at Morganton Baptist Cemetary.  Pallbearers will be David Thomas, Brandon Quintrell, Kevin Quintrell, Garret Mervine, Gary Long, and Joe Long.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be directed to the Morganton Baptist Cemetery Fund.
