The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. David Michael Cox, age 59, of Blairsville, who passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Union General Hospital in Blairsville.
The Bible does not say very much about homes; it says a great deal about the things that make them. It speaks about life and love and joy and peace and rest! Dave took a house and put these into it, and secured a home. A home full of life, love, joy, peace, and rest. To some he was David; to others Dave, still others he was Big Dave. To those who knew him well, he was just a big teddy bear.......
David was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 16, 1953, a son of the late Herman Young and the late Mary Ella McGaha Young. He worked as a manufacturing engineer.
David was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, especially by his family: loving wife of 40 years, Vickie Cox; daughter and son-in-law, Kristin and Chris Collins; two sisters: Becky Nations and Debbie Groves; and a brother, Joe Young; two grandchildren: Lilly Collins, whom David called his "Princess", and Hudson Collins, who was David's "Little Buddy".
Funeral services for David have been scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. The following gentlemen have been selected by the family to serve as pallbearers: Aaron Groves, Jason Waldroup, Tyler DiNatale, Chase Stuart, Tony DiNatale, Robbie Stuart, John Johnson, and Billy Henry. The following gentlemen have been requested to serve as honorary escort for the family: Doug Schramke, Alan Nichols, Shane Moore, Steve Kimsey, and Clyde Walton. Burial will be in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, April 23, 2013, between the hours of 6 pm until 9 pm.
