David McKinley Bates

Cochran Funeral Home and Crematory of Blairsville announces graveside services for Mr. David McKinley Bates, age 56, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, who passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at his home.

Mr. Bates was born in Franklin, North Carolina, on July 17, 1960, a son of the late John Bates, Jr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Arnold Bates. David had lived in this area for most of his life, and he was an automotive mechanic, who worked for various shops in the area.

Surviving family members include his wife, Barbara Bates, of Blue Ridge; son and daughter-in-law, Justin and Heather Helton, of Brunswick, Georgia; brother and sister-in-law, Glen James and Pamela Bates, of Blairsville; sister, Margie Lovingood, of Hiawassee; and brother, Johnny Bates, of Blairsville; one granddaughter, Rhianna Helton.

Graveside services have been scheduled for Monday, April 3, 2017, to be held at 2:00 p.m., in Coosa United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Roy Watkins officiating.
