Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. David McEwen, age 69, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 in Blairsville.
Mr. McEwen was born in Miami, Florida, on January 3, 1942, a son of the late Jerome McEwen and the late Marie Maggio. David was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a businessman, and owned and managed a Bowling and Golf Pro Shop at Victoria Station in Blairsville. He had been a bowling enthusiast for 57 years. To his family he was a good husband and father, and to all a kind generous man, always willing to help others.
He is missed and is lovingly remembered by his family: wife, Brenda, of Blairsville; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly McEwen Jacquin and Herb Jacquin, of Eustis, Florida; and daughter, Katey Rae McEwen, of Blairsville. Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, July 31, 2011, at 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating with eulogy by Mr. D.J. DeJoseph Special music will be presented by Mrs Mindy Combs Allen. The following gentlemen have been selected by the family to serve as pallbearers: Herb Jacquin, D.J. DeJoseph, Ron Connor, David Zachry, Jon Connor, and Chad Schlarb. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 1, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia, with military honors at the graveside by the Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday, and last until time for the funeral to begin.
