David Kiefer Sherb

Mr. David Kiefer Sherb, age 89 of Hiawassee, passed away September 5, 2019 at his home. Mr. Sherb was born January 3, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Warner J. and Blanch Sherb, but was raised on Staten Island. Then later he attended the Admiral Farragut Academy prep school in St. Petersburg, Fl.; He then graduated from Wagner College in New York; Mr. Sherb and his wife Gail of 36 years, lived part time in Florida, Hayesville and Hiawassee since 1986

Mr Sherb loved golf, boating, as well as antique boats, fishing and bird watching. He had a great passion for flying which came about from spending 4 years in The U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He spent most of his career as a salesman with W.W. Williams Company, selling heavy construction equipment. He was a great joke and story teller and had a great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kevin Sherb.

Survivors include: wife, Gail; 3 step children, Dawn Brooks, Denise Trissel, and Lynn Zophres; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until the service starts.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
