David Wayne Friedly passed away peacefully at home on April 22, 2017. David was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 29, 1954 to Lionel Dale and Barbara (Bruce) Friedly.

David attended the University of Georgia and studied poultry science, which led him to Blairsville to work for Arbor Acres Farms. While at the university, David was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho (AGR), the national agricultural fraternity. He served as Noble Ruler (president) of the chapter in 1978-1979. He also participated in ROTC and activities related to the National Rifle Association (NRA).

During his retirement, David enjoyed membership in the David W. Payne Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV) organization, serving in many capacities in the early years of the chapter. He was also a life member of the Georgia Division SCV organization. David started and maintained websites for many organizations, including the Georgia Old Time Plow Club and the Union County Historical Society. He served on the historical society board for many years, and received the 2003 Preservationist of the Year award from this organization. David's hobbies included local history and agricultural topics.

Friedly, also of Baltimore. Other surviving family members include his mother in law, Barbara T. Davenport, and brother in law Doug Davenport and his wife Delila. David was blessed to have many friends, but among his closest were Nathan Holbrooks and Johnny Holbrooks. Preceding David in death were his parents and a nephew, James Friedly.

David will be interred in Old Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
