Daniel W Smithwick, age 86 of Hiawassee, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 in Hiawassee. Mr. Smithwick was born March 3, 1927 in Upper Darby, PA to Macon and Dorothy Singer Smithwick. Mr. Smithwick had lived in Hiawassee since 2008, moving here from Palmetto, FL. He was of the Lutheran Faith and was a WWII Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Smithwick.
Survivors include: sister, Carol Singletary of Hobgood, NC, daughters, Barbara Smithwick of Cleveland, GA, Susan Minor of West Cliff, CO, and Carol Nipper of Raeford, NC, grandchildren, Andrea Warren and Aimee Knight, and great grandchildren, Brianna, Jaxon, Ella Jane, Hailey, and Hunter.
A private family memorial service will be conducted at a latter date.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
