Daniel Moore Ellis,

Mr. Daniel Moore Ellis, Jr., age 47 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, January 26, 2009 at his home following a brief illness. Dan was born Tuesday, March 28, 1961 in Anderson, SC to Daniel Moore Ellis, Sr. and Linda Compton Ellis. He attended Liberty Baptist Church. Dan was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce. Dan was a Commercial pilot, instructor and maintainence professional. He held ratings including: A&P, IA, CFII and multi engine Instrument. He developed and taught a mountain flying safety course and was manager of Andrews-Murphy Airport. Dan loved to fly.

Survivors include: wife, Sherry Ellis of Blairsville, GA, parents, Daniel and Lynn Ellis of Williamston, SC, son, Daniel Ellis III of Beauford, SC, son & daughter-in-law, Josh and Amanda Ellis of Anderson, SC, step-sons, Russell Walker of Blairsville and Richard Walker of Jasper, brother, Andy Ellis of Beauford, SC and grandchildren, Megan, Madeline, Lindsey and Landen Walker and Naomi Ellis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 2:00 PM from the Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Chatham officiating. Music will be provided by Mr. Scott Lance. Interment will follow in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery. North Georgia Honor Guard will present Military Honors. All local area pilots and those affiliated with the local airports please serve as honorary escort to the family.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Wednesday, January 28.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Young Eagles Flight Club.
