Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death of Ms. Dana Rachele Hood, age 50 of Blairsville who passed away on Friday October 30th, 2020.
Dana was a graduate of Union County High School, class of 1989 and worked as an orthodontic assistant with Dr. Benny Erwin for many years. She was a member of New Union Baptist Church. Dana had a love for horses. She loved being outdoors and always enjoyed helping people. Dana also enjoyed helping her dad raise and train bird dogs. She was an excellent truck and trailer driver and hauled horses for people all over the southeast. She loved long trail rides with great friends and she loved participating and helping with rodeos and was a big supporter of Sass n' Saddles drill team, which her two nieces were members of. Above all she loved her family and treated her two nieces as her own children.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday November 1st, 2020 from the New Union Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Hood oficiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Everyone who knew Dana knew that she was a cowgirl at heart. And so, with that in mind, everyone is encouraged to wear their jeans and boots. The family would like to say that this is an event where everyone is invited to attend. The family also requests to please practice social distancing and to please wear a mask.
Survivors include her father, Rick Hood; siblings, Damon Hood (Judy) and Danette Dale (Justin); nieces, Haley and Emma Dale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to single mothers or the New Union Baptist Church Cemtery Fund in memory of Ms. Hood.
