Colleen H. Hoodenpyle

The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces Funeral Services for Mrs. Colleen H. Hoodenpyle, age 92, who passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

Mrs. Hoodenpyle was born in Oakwood, Georgia, a daughter of the late Julius and Cleo Hughes. She taught school in Towns County Comprehensive Schools for 30 years. Mrs. Hoodenpyle was a member of Hiawassee United Methodist Church in Hiawassee. Her husband, Hugh Charles Hoodenpyle, passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by four sisters: Wynell Hughes, Doris Dodd, Sue Cagle, and Wilma Hughes; and a brother, Leon Hughes.

Surviving family members include two sons: Richard Hoodenpyle, of Sylva, North Carolina, and David Hoodenpyle, of Viera, Florida; a brother, Ronnie Hughes, of Atlanta; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 10, 2017. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Jon Stevens officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Hugh Hoodenpyle, at Osborn Cemetery.

Flowers are being accepted; however, if you wish to do so, memorials may be made to Hiawassee United Methodist Church.
