Clyde "Bud" Hill

Mr. C.W. "Bud" Hill, Jr., age 74, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Union General Hospital in Blairsville.

Bud was born November 30, 1939 in Blairsville, and graduated from Union County High School in 1957. He was valedictorian of his class and editor of the year book. He was voted Best All Around and Most Athletic. Bud lettered in basketball, baseball and track. In 1961, Bud graduated from Georgia Tech, with a BS Degree in Industrial Management. He was secretary and vice-president of his fraternity, Kappa Sigma; secretary of the I M Honor Society, secretary of the Bull Dog Club, member of the Scabbard and Blade Military Honor Society. He went through the NROTC program, and he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Northampton as a full Lieutenant and the Disbursing Officer. On October 22, 1966 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, Bud married Frances Lorraine Brownfield. Their three children are: Cameron Strawbridge Hill, born in 1968; Ashley Lorraine Hill, born in 1970; and Cooper Jackson Hill, born in 1975.

In 2003, Bud and wife Lorraine were able to devote full time to Hill-Vue Farm in Blairsville. For more than 48 years they have been a breeder of Registered Polled Herefords, and in addition, for 11 years they have also been a breeder of Registered Angus cattle. The first 40 acres of the farm was bought by Bud in 1954, with money made from delivering The Atlanta Journal and mowing lawns. As a seed stock producer, Hill-Vue has had successful sales to cattlemen in several states. Bud is a member of many cattle associations, including the American Hereford Association, the American Angus Association, the Georgia Cattlemen Association, and served as president of the Blue Ridge Mountain Cattlemen's Association. He was inducted into the Union County Hall of Fame for Agriculture in 2013. Bud and Lorraine are members of Grace Presbyterian Church of America, in Blairsville, and Bud has served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons.

Bud will be tenderly remembered and greatly missed, especially by his loving family members: wife, Lorraine; son and daughter-in-law, Cameron S. and Sally Hill, of Chattanooga; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley H. and Paul Hogg, of Suffolk, Virginia; and son and daughter-in-law, Cooper J. and Kathy G. Hill, of Cleveland, Tennessee; a brother, Robert L. "Bob" Hill, of Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren: Maggie, Lizzie, and Strobe Hill; Caroline, Campbell, Frances Grace Hogg; Walker, Emmaline, and Spencer Hill; many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Bud have been scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., to be held at Grace Presbyterian Church in Blairsville. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Andy Williams, John Priebe, Buddy Huggins, Paul Thompson, Paul Owenby and Doug Triestram; honorary escort to the family: Harrison Brown, Mike Callaway, Jerome Taylor, Bob Head, Jim McAfee, Denny Mobbs, Robert Carpenter, Troy Dyer, Dan Brown, Fred Dearborn, Bruce Eisel, Bob Boone, Bob Sheppard, Mickey Cummings, Bob Short, Gerald Kersey; and the Union County High School Class of 1957. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening, September 19th, between the hours of 5 until 8 p.m.

The family has requested no flowers; but instead, donations in memory of Bud, to Grace PCA Deacons Fund.
