Clell William Head, age 86 of Murphy, passed away Friday, December 12, 2008.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Coleman and Iowa Wright Head,. and two brothers Creed and Otis Head and one sister Faye Totherow. He was a World War II Veteran of the US Army and worked with the US Forest Service.
Survivors include: wife, Annie Amos Head of Murphy, N.C, sister, Zola Palmer of Murphy, N.C, sister, Beatricie Lovingood of Murphy, N.C., sister, Mae Morgan of Acworth, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 14, 2008 from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Hughes officiating . Interment followed in the Peachtree Memorial Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Johnny Palmer, Roy Palmer, Steve Vicknair, Kim Evans, Harold Coleman, and Edward Cantrell. Honoary pallbearers included Jay Palmer and Robert Pullium, Billy Millsaps,with military graveside rites conducted by veterans organizations; Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Elkin American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73 and Clay County VFW Post 6812.
