ClaudeWilliam Holloway, age 85 of Marble, passed away Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. Mr. Holloway was born March 14, 1927 in Topton, NC to the late Joseph and Amanda Trantham Holloway. Claude served in the US Army during World War II. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time. A member of the Red Marble Baptist Church he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Amanda Holloway, brothers, Elbert, A.V., Wayne, and Champ Holloway; sisters Yvonne Schultz, Ismer Postell, Ila Postell, Ada Moody, Thelma Totherow, and Ola McMahan.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Willa Mae Turner Holloway, daughter, Cathy (Randy) Davidson, daughter, Glenda Gutierrez, son, Keith Holloway, daughter, Sharon Moss, son, Danny (Linda Curtis) Holloway, daughter, Donna (Willard) Payne, daughter, Janice (Richard) Holland, daughter, Teresa (Allen ) Hayes; 29 Grandchildren, and 32 Great-Grandchildren. Special caregivers Sandy, Cleta and Betty.
Funeral services were held Saturday December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Aud Brown and Rev. France Postell officiating. Interment will follow at the Holloway Family Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jamie Moss, Landon Harris, Shawn, David, Josh, Matt and Ray Gutierrez and Brian Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are J. D. Holloway, Lynn Moody, Jerry and Billy McMahan. Military honors conducted by Veterans Organization: Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73, and Clay County VFW Post 6812, and North Carolina National Guard.
