Mr. Clarence Nathaniel Pace, age 93 of Marble, passed away December 21, 2014 at Valley View Care Center. Mr. Pace was born November 18, 1921 to Roy and Mary Newton Pace. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marble. Clarence was WW II Army veteran. He served in the European Theatre fighting in battles in Sicily, Italy and Southern France. Clarence was a recipient of the Purple Heart. After returning from the war, Clarence settled back in to a quiet life of Cattle Farming in his beloved Western North Carolina Mountains. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers; Glenn, Noah, Hermis, and Frank Pace.
Survivors include: sister, Janette Pace, Brother, J.V. (Lois) Pace, Brother, Ed Pace, and sister, Geneva Pace, all of Marble, NC.
Funeral services: Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy with the Rev. Fred Lunsford and the Rev. James Stalcup officiating. Music will be provided by Tony Pace. Interment will follow in the Rowland Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Marvin, Robert, Bobby, Charles and Buddy Pace and Hal Newton. Military graveside rites will be conducted by veterans organizations: Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post 96 and DAV Chapter 73 and Clay County VFW Post 6812.
The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Murphy of Murphy, Tuesday, December 23, 2014, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
