Clara Marie "pat" Blackwell

Clara Marie "Pat" Vertican Blackwell of Maranatha Village, Sebring, FL, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 21, 2008 after a battle with cancer. For the past several months, she was living with her daughter in Young Harris, GA.

Pat was born on December 21, 1920 in Port Huron, Michigan; the second-youngest of 7 living children of Dorothea Bender Vertican and William Charles F. Vertican, all of whom have predeceased her. Her husband of 49 years, Stanley P. Blackwell passed away in 1987.

She is survived by her son Dr. Marc S. Blackwell, Sr. of Cape Town, South Africa and her daughter, Patricia Kolb of Young Harris, GA, 4 grandchildren, Marc S. Blackwell, Jr., Michael D. Blackwell, Michelle Janse van RensBurg all of South Africa, and Bret S. Kolb of Syracuse, NY, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

For many years, Pat taught Ladies' Bible Seminars here in the United States and on several mission fields overseas. She was a member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Sebring, FL.

Graveside services will be held at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood, FL. on Thursday Sept. 25, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Marc S. Blackwell, Sr. officiating.
