Christine Tate Thompson

Mrs. Christine Tate Thompson, age 78 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at Union General Hospital. Mrs. Thompson was born Thursday, August 7, 1930 in Union County, GA to the late Ocean Tate and the late Irene Little Tate. She was a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church, Eastern Star and Gideons Auxiliary and was preceded in death by brother, Earlen Tate and niece, Pam Anderson.

Survivors include: husband, Elmer Thompson of Blairsville, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Michael and Mildred Thompson of Blairsville, GA, granddaughter, Leah Thompson of Blairsville, GA, brother, Jewell Tate of Kirbyville, TX, niece, Sheila Garland of Athens, GA, nephew, Jewell Tate, Jr. of Athens, GA.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 2, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Karnes and Rev. Tony Black officiating. Music will be provided by Martha Davenport, Kenneth and Elaine Young. Interment will follow in Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Junior Puett, Bruce Gray, Harold Atkins, Darrin Bridges, Darrel Bridges and Gerald Owenby.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 P.M, Thursday, January 1.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Gideons, Lions Lighthouse or Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
