Christine Davis Stovall

July 20, 1927 — July 8, 2019

Christine Davis Stovall, age 91 of Blue Ridge, passed away July 8, 2019. Mrs. Stovall was born July 20, 1927, in Murphy, North Carolina to the late Newton Gibson and Edith Anderson Gibson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill. She was preceded in death by her late husbands, Flint Davis, and J.T. Stovall, as well as her brothers, John Gibson and Herbert Gibson.

Christine often reminisced of her childhood, which included being the oldest child of four sisters and two brothers and their responsibilities and adventures of growing up on the family farm. She graduated from Murphy High School and attended Young Harris College. Her entrepreneurial spirit began in her early years where, as the owner of the Tastee Freez Drive-In, she was known around McCaysville for her endless hours serving burgers and shakes to local friends and patrons. Christine was also instrumental in the ownership and management of the Sears Roebuck Catalog Store in McCaysville. Christine later changed her business focus to the local jewelry industry, where she was the original owner of The Diamond Center in Blue Ridge. She was known throughout the area for her strong work ethic, her charming personality, her expectations of excellence, her old sayings that she could quote at any moment, and her classic beauty. After retirement, she became active in the McCaysville Garden Club, the Fannin Regional Hospital Auxiliary Pink Ladies, the Prime Timer's Choir, and the Sanctuary Choir at the First Baptist Church. Christine enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren - they truly were the joy of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of integrity, honesty, charisma, faithfulness, and love. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her family and those who knew her.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Sandi and Jon Stepp of Blue Ridge, son and daughter-in-law Rusty and Sandra Davis of Blue Ridge, step-daughter Debbie Stovall of Chattanooga, and daughter-in-law Eva Jean Welch of Blairsville.
