Chris Gus Grevis

July 27, 1926 — May 6, 2018

Chris Gus Grevis, 91, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Genesis Health Care. He was born in Copperhill, Tennessee on July 27, 1926 to Gus and Lina (Mormanis) Grevis. Chris graduated from Woodward High School and would enlist in the United States Navy to proudly serve his country during WWII. Chris served as a radioman 3rd class before being honorably discharged in 1946. He was a life member at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Chris was also a member of the American Legion Dunberger Post #537 and served on the Color Guard for 29 years. On October 21, 1949 he would marry the love of his life, Barbara (Grayson) and together they would own and operate the Cornerstone Inn from 1980-2006. She would precede him in death in 2004. Previously he was a proud owner of FaBa nightclub with his siblings, Andy and Stella from 1962-1975. Chris was a kind man who was very much young at heart, and well known for his generous hugs that will be greatly missed.



Chris is survived by his sons, Chris (Kathaleen) Grevis, Paul (Cheryl) Grevis; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 55 years, Barbara; and 4 siblings.



Friends and family may visit Eggleston Meinert & Pavley Funeral Home, Millbury, Chapel, 1111 Woodville Rd., on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 2-8 pm with Legion Services at 6:00 pm followed by Trisagion service at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will take place at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 740 Superior St., Toledo on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. where the family will begin greeting friends at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Veterans Matter.
